Hello there bloggers, sorry I haven’t blogged in a while I’ve had so much going on, which means this entry is going to be super long!
Also I’m aware that a photographer’s blog without any images is extremely boring so I promise to add some soon.
So back to my portfolio, I got in touch with Jane Hall who works at The Journal. She pointed me in the right direction of people to ask to help out with my food/drink & lifestyle work.

Hey Jane,
Sorry only got round to emailing you now its been a busy couple of days!
I was wondering if you knew any local chefs/businesses that I could get in touch with to photograph their dishes for uni. My project at the moment is creating a portfolio about food & drink.
Jan gave me the heads up that you were the lady to ask!
Hope your well, Steph Bell
Am at David Kennedy's Food Social at the moment at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle.
Head chef Andrew Wilkinson says if you call him at the restaurant - 0191 260 5411 - he'll have a chat & see what he can do to help.
Also try the Grand Hotel in Tynemouth. Head chef Kevin Mulraney is an ex-Michelin star. The hotel manager is Chris Marsh on 0191 293 6666. He's very helpful. Just say I passed on his details.
Blackfriars in Newcastle would be another good one. The head chef is the wonderfully named Troy Terrington. Don't have the number to hand, but front of house will put you through.
Adam Riley of the quirky Riley's Fish Shack is holding a pop-up at The Low Lights on North Shields Fish Quay later this month. That would be a good one to do. I'm seeing him this afternoon so will ask if he is OK with that.
Hope this helps. Get back if you need anymore.

So I then started emailing contacts and received some great opportunities.
Another lady I spoke to was Maunika Gowardhan, I was quite honoured cause I recognize her work!

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for your email. I tend to do my own photography for my food blog so wont really need your services for it. Although I do have a night market later this year coming to the region so might be worth coming along to it & taking some images we can use for the blog/ press/ newspaper articles we put out?
Also I think since your still picking up ideas might be worth doing a stage with a professional photographer in the region to sharpen your skills and of course build you folio?
If you give me your contact number I can pass your details to a couple of my photography friends who would be happy for you to assist them. Hope that helps. Also I do have a few cookery/ cheffing events that I will be guest cheffing at in the region with some brilliant establishments so if you'd like to come along & take some shots for it let me know I'll keep you posted.
All best,
Maunika.
So that’s more good news, a very positive response!
